Artiguelouve means "clearing with wolves" in Béarnais. This ancient village was for a long time a dependency of the Marquisate of Gassion, like many other communes in the region. The church of Saint-Michel, which has been redesigned several times in history, partially dates back to the 15th century. Its golf course is one of the two courses in the Pau region (with that of Billère). Placed on the road to Santiago de Compostela, the town sees many pilgrims pass through.
