The history of the town is marked by its mine, which closed in 1974. Since 1979, the headframe and the land of the mine have been bought by the municipality. In the town, you can admire the Town Hall, dating from 1933, which seems to want to compete with the top of the slag heap. It houses two works by the painter Édouard Pignon, a friend of Picasso. Visit also the church of Saint-Vaast, whose oldest stones date back to 1536 and which contains many classified objects such as the confessional. The park of Clarence is very popular with walkers who, from there, will join Auchel. The hill of Bon Air allows you to admire the panorama of the town.
