The village of Eperlecques stands proudly in the heart of the Parc régional des Caps et Marais d'Opale. Among the remarkable monuments: the church of Saint-Léger and its white stone tower dating from the 16th century and the seven chapels to be discovered during a 10 km bucolic walk through the village. But if the small village breathes calm and tranquility today, its history was strongly disturbed by the two world wars. The most impressive witness of this eventful history is of course the Blockhaus of Eperlecques, a mass of 100 000m3 of concrete built by the Germans in 1942
