Located only 9 kilometres from Boulogne-sur-Mer and not far from Calais, Ambleteuse is a small fishing village typical of the Opal Coast. Its Belle Époque bathers' houses stand next to traditional fishermen's houses on the seafront. Close to the mouth of the Slack, the village is home to a particularly rich plant biodiversity. It is at this mouth, at the end of the pebble beach, that the majestic Fort Mahon (built under Louis XIV by Vauban) is located. Note that there is no sandy beach or restaurant or business on the seafront.
