The traces of the existence of Virazeil go back to the 10th century. It was then the property of the archpriest of Marmande. The two neighboring towns have always maintained close ties. Over the centuries, bourgeois families from Marmande have built houses of character on the hillsides of Virazeil. The town center, crossed by the departmental road 933, is dynamic with its shops in front, its school group, its sports facilities and its well-developed community life. In addition to the 19th century Saint-Vincent church, another religious building with a Romanesque style is worth a visit in the hamlet of Sainte-Abondance.
