Located 7 km from Lille, Wambrechies enjoyed a prosperous period at the end of the 18th century, with the emergence of numerous textile and agri-food industries (chicory, beer, etc.). You can visit the Renaissance-style Château de Robersart in the town center. For a time, it was the residence of the town's lords, and much later, at the beginning of the 20th century, of the free boys' school. Another place to visit is the Musée de la Poupée et du Jouet Antique, also located in the Château de Robersart. Spirits lovers will also want to take a look at the Claeyssens jenever distillery, which is still in operation.
