The origins of Lewarde date back to around the 13th century. Today, the town has a population of around 2,500 and owes its reputation, which extends far beyond the region, to its historic mining center, a true testimony to the past. A stopover here is highly recommended to discover in depth this specificity, which remains relatively unknown to those not from the region. Other points of interest include the church of Saint-Rémi, built between the 16th and 19th centuries. On the second Sunday in October, the town holds its annual chestnut festival. And don't forget to try the truffé lewardois, a local specialty pâté.
