Twelve kilometers from Cambrai, Les Rues-des-Vignes is a commune of about seven hundred inhabitants. It is located in the valley of the Haut-Escaut, also called (more locally) the valley of Vinchy. The Saint Quentin canal and the Escaut river flow through it. Les Rues des Vignes is home to an archaeological park (the Archéo' Site) which is constantly active and offers a very nice family outing to explore time and better understand archaeology. The name of the village, which makes you smile, comes from the fact that there were vineyards in the fifteenth century, which later gave this charming name. Don't miss the Abbaye de Vaucelles!
