Ferrière-la-Petite belongs to the Maubeuge-Val de Sambre agglomeration. According to the records, the village has been occupied since the 6th century. It really developed in the 18th century with the salt sandstone industry and again in the 19th century with the exploitation of marble in the surroundings. The name of the village was not given by chance. Like its big sister Ferrière-la-Grande, it owes its name to the iron mines that were exploited for decades. During your visit, note the calvary of 1820, as well as the war memorial, which is very numerous in the region. Also note the presence of the Voie verte de l'Avesnois.
