Openair market

At the beginning of the 18th century, fishermen's wives sold fish on the Minck, at the foot of the Leughenaer tower and right next to the fishing boats. In 1863, a covered market was built on the Minck. In 1902, a superb building was inaugurated and became the fish market, where the Bazennes (fishermen's wives) boasted the quality of their products. The building did not survive the war, but it is still possible to buy freshly landed fish at unbeatable prices at the aubettes! Four aubettes are regularly open.

MARCHÉ DE DUNKERQUE

Openair market

The Dunkirk market is held twice a week, on Saturdays and Wednesdays. The market, which has moved several times, is mainly located on the Place du Général de Gaulle, the Rue des Soeurs-Blanches and the Cours François-Bart. It has between 130 and 160 stalls (depending on the season) on Saturdays (and about 60 stalls on Wednesday mornings), and offers all types of shops and especially small producers. At the time of the carnival, several stands propose all that it is necessary to renovate its clet' che (disguise) or to compose its panoply.
