BAIN DES GIVRÉS
Petit Futé's opinion on BAIN DES GIVRÉS
Every year in Dunkirk, locals and tourists celebrate the January by taking a real "frosty bath" in the North Sea!
How do you classify this event in a tourist guide? It's not a party, it's not a carnival, it's not a sports event, it's not a parade. But it's a bit of all that at the same time. It all started when friends got together to celebrate the Y2K anniversary. They met on the first day of the century for a rejuvenating bath. There were a handful of them, since then there have been nearly 500 frosty people who get wet every year, from those who dip their toes in the water to those who happily roll around in the North Sea, which is no warmer than 10°C.
