The Citadel and fortifications of Cambrai offer an 8-stage tour of its remains and underground passageways.
In 1543, Emperor Charles V ordered the construction of a citadel on the highest point of Cambrai: the Mont des Bœufs. It is in the form of a vast quadrilateral with a bastion at each corner. Demolished more than a century ago, visit its vestiges and underground passages by following 8 stages: door of Paris, Tower of the Sottes, door of the Arquets, barracks Mortier, handling, castle of Selles, door Notre-Dame and the citadel (count approximately 1h30 with foot).
