Bourbourg was a strategic place for a long time disputed by the English, the Spanish and the French. It finally became part of France in 1659 with the Treaty of the Pyrenees. Enjoying an exceptional geographical situation, at the crossroads of major land, river and rail routes. Today, Bourbourg focuses on its heritage such as the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, the former 16th century prison or its contemporary art center. At each Saint John's Day festival, the streets come alive to the rhythm of the city's giants. Don't miss their appearance if you are in the area, it's a sight to see!
