The name "Touffailles" would come from "Toufels" which would designate a people federated to the Goths, the Taïfales. This origin would be identical to the Spanish town of Tafalla. The ramparts of an old medieval castle overlook the village and we can see the remains: a chapel and an old farm. Several chapels are visible: Moissaguel, Saint-Gervais, Sainte-Livrade. Oral tradition has it that a chapel named Sainte-Marthe burned in the Middle Ages, next to the place called Lacontal near the lavender fields of Quercy. In Moissaguel, there were once two medieval towers, also the remains of an ancient castle.
