In the 9th century, we already find traces of the village, a parish dependent on the abbey of Saint-Sernin de Toulouse. In 1211, Simon de Montfort put the Occitan lands to fire and blood. With the King of France, Orgueil became a bastide. The wars of religion will see the destruction of the village which will be rebuilt on the hills. Orgueil offers an interesting church, Saint-Ferréol, where the octagonal bell-tower rises on the façade. The portal, decorated with interesting arches, opens onto a nave of four bays, flanked by two chapels and followed by a choir with a pentagonal chevet. A meteorite fell on 14 May 1864 and is immortalized by a monument.
