Monclar could be described as a painter's palette with its pastel shades changing with the seasons. A small town that shivers in winter and is full of life when the first rays of sunshine send summer visitors fleeing from the towns, it has a 1,000 year history, perched on the last foothills of the Bas-Quercy. Monclar appears in history at the time of Queen Brunehaut, during the treaty of Andelot in 587. In 1789, the revolutionaries destroyed the castle and ransacked the church. The present church was built in 1880. As an ancient fortified town, Monclar has very few remains, so tumultuous was its history
