Bordering the departments of Tarn and Aveyron, at the confluence of the Viaur and the Aveyron, at the gateway to Rouergue, the commune of Laguépie belongs to the Aveyron fringe, which was attached to Tarn-et-Garonne by Napoleon I. Only traces remain of the important mining complex. At the end of the 16th century, the barons of Laguépie joined the Protestants of Rouergue. The square tower of the castle, rebuilt in 2003, is typical of Rouergue architecture and houses two beautiful rooms with groined vaults, a jewel of regional architecture. An elegant Renaissance door, with remarkable sculpted ornaments, completes this journey through time
