12 km from Montauban, on the left bank of the pale green Tarn river, in the pleasant and fertile plain, is the village of Labastide, founded in 1272 by Alphonse de Poitiers. The Romans were the first farmers and established alliances with the Gauls and created the main road from Montauban to Toulouse. The castle was built in the middle of the 11th century at the bottom of the village. In the middle of the 15th century, several lords shared the village. This village, razed to the ground by the Montauban Protestants, was located at a place called Laplaces. The village, which has 3,800 inhabitants, covers an area of more than 20 km² and there is no shortage of sporting activities.
