The historical origin of the village goes back to the Gallo-Roman period. In 1956, a mosaic dating from the 4th century AD was discovered. It can be admired in the Ingres Museum in Montauban. On March 21, 1565, the villagers had the honor to welcome King Charles IX accompanied by his mother Catherine de Medici. Coming from Montauban, the royal procession stopped at Labastide for dinner before going to sleep in Moissac. In the 19th century, the town underwent a major transformation and gradually became the town we know today, pleasant and full of surprises, lively and charming.
