Let yourself be enchanted by the discovery of its narrow streets, its half-timbered houses and its cool arcades under the stone... Founded by the Durfort family and the seneschal of Agenais in 1253, the bastide was for two centuries the possession of the Balzac family and Marguerite de Valois, known as Queen Margot, resided here in 1574. You should not leave without seeing the Templars' tower, a vestige of an agricultural commandery founded at Soubsol. Aviation enthusiasts will have a fond thought for Théodore-Léon Lemartin, a child of Dunes, a famous aviator and test pilot for Blériot who was accidentally killed in 1911.
