A remarkable Cistercian abbey of the Midi, with an 18th century guest reception room and history room.

In the ^13th century, Belleperche was one of the three largest and richest Cistercian abbeys in the Midi and contributed to the economic development of the region. You can discover the galleries, the reception room, the monks' refectory, the park with its linden trees. Its permanent exhibition "La table est mise" (The table is set) plunges you, from the end of the Middle Ages to our days, into the surprising world of the table. You will also leave for China with the exhibition "The earth and the tea."

Opening time and information on ABBEY OF BELLEPERCHE MUSÉE DES ARTS DE LA TABLE

Open from May to September. Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm ; Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm. Annual closing : May 1st, November 1st and November 11th. From December to February open for groups on request. Free of charge until 18 years old (school groups, students, disabled persons, job seekers). Adults: 2 €. Group (5 persons) : 1 €. Guided tour.

Owner's Message

In the 13th century, Belleperche Abbey was one of the three largest and richest Cistercian abbeys in the Midi. Affiliated to Clairvaux in 1143, it contributed to the economic development of the region thanks to its multiple activities, including the creation of bastides, some of which still exist. Saved in extremis by the General Council of Tarn-et-Garonne who bought it in 1983 (it almost became a... discotheque!), it is gradually restored and became the museum of table arts. The vaulted rooms and galleries contain: the 18th century guest reception room, the monks' refectory, the history rooms, the park with its avenue of lime trees, the majestic grand staircase, the vast three-vessel granary, the brick cloister...

Très belle découverte

Musée découvert lors des journées du patrimoine, très agréable visite. Le bâtiment est magnifique et le musée des arts de la table est très bien documenté et très bien réalisé. Une visite exceptionnelle!
