Located between Gaillac and Albi, the Pays Lislois is home to one of the oldest vineyards in France, planted in the 1st century AD. Enclosed in amphorae made in Montans, the wines were transported on barges to Bordeaux via the Tarn and the Garonne. If the vineyard still predominates in the surroundings of Lisle-sur-Tarn, constituting an autonomous pole of attraction, the bastide itself, dating from the 13th century, deserves all your interest. Don't miss its covered square, its pountets, the old port, its palace, its private mansions, the Notre-Dame-de-la-Jonquière church and its museum dedicated to Raymond Lafage, a 17th century draughtsman.
