Today, Lautrec's fame is linked to the fame of the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, descendant of the Viscounts of Lautrec, and to the cultivation of pink garlic, but its history goes back much further. Founded in 940, the site was first occupied by a Celtic tribe and then by the Romans. According to historians, the foundation of its viscounty dates back to the 10th century when Bernard, Viscount of Albigensia, divided his lands between his two sons: Aton, with the title of Viscount of Albigensia, for the northern part, and Sicard I, Viscount of Lautrec, for the south. This new dynasty reigned for seven centuries on the territory. This privileged land knew great periods of troubles, notably during the Hundred Years War and the Wars of Religion. Only three gates of its fortified enclosure remain and its vestiges testify to its different mutations. Today, this flourishing agricultural center offers a peaceful stopover in the heart of the Cocagne region. One stays here to recharge one's batteries in a preserved natural setting or to venture into its environment rich in a thousand-year-old history. The gourmets also go there to enjoy its market and leave with the beautiful cloves of pink garlic from Lautrec. Numerous events are proposed such as "Fête du Pain & du goût" "Fête de l'Ail Rose" "Festivaoût" "vide-grenier" "Fête du Sabot & des vieux métiers" "Pinceaux de Cocagne" "OutiLautrec".you will be spoilt for choice in this village which is one of the most beautiful villages in France and one of the most remarkable sites of taste
