With its rural atmosphere, reinforced by its market and its talented producers, Graulhet cultivates its difference. Embraced by fields, crossed by the Dadou and the Verdaussou, this small fortified town owes its dynamism to the involvement of its craftsmen. Its development began in the golden age of pastel thanks to the presence of its small pastel transit port. Then, in the 17th century, it turned to the leather industry (terry cloth mills, hat factories, shoemakers, tanneries, tanneries...). It is this development and know-how that have shaped the current face of the city and given it the nickname of City of Leather Trades.
