Pont-du-Casse is a name that can surprise. There was a bridge, it is true, on the right bank of the Masse, but casse? According to scholars, it seems that the word quercus (the origin of the word "Quercy") means oak in Latin. In Gallo-Roman language quercus would have become cassius. Pont-du-Casse was the city where there was a remarkable oak tree near a bridge. Why not? Especially since we found in Pont-du-Casse the structures of a villa whose floors and walls were decorated with mosaics. Four hiking trails leave from the city and are a few kilometers long to discover the surroundings.
