Terrou has been inhabited at least since the Middle Ages, as evidenced by the excavations carried out by M. Mounier between 1984 and 1986. These uncovered the remains of an early medieval necropolis on the roadside near the river. History would once again leave its mark on this small village in 1944, when it witnessed the brutality of the Second World War: in May, when Nazi soldiers set fire to the forest, and in June, when the school was burnt down and all the houses systematically destroyed. The village is also noteworthy for the Château Saint-Thamar, built in the 17th century by the Colomb family of master glassmakers.
