A little more than 300 inhabitants for the village of Souyeaux, north of the lake of Arrêt-Darré and 9 km east of Tarbes. The Estéous River originates in the commune and carries water from the lake for watering crops. Originally, Souyeaux depended on the lordships of Cabanac and Pouyastruc, who had the forests exploited by the villagers known as Los Boscasses, loggers in Occitan. This is why two axes appear on Souyeaux's coat of arms. Beautiful buildings are to be seen in the centre of the town, including the school complex and the former town hall, a building dating from the 19th century, which was rebuilt in 1910 after a fire. The church of the 17th and 18th centuries with stained glass windows and statues, including that of Saint Barthélémy, patron saint of the village, which is honoured every year for the local festival. The former presbytery houses the new town hall and a municipal accommodation.
