7 km north of Arreau, Sarrancolin is the first village to open onto the beautiful Aure Valley. An old medieval town whose origins date back to around 70 BC, Sarrancolin has a strong history marked by the marble industry. Under Louis XIV, the site was the place where the royal marble was shipped, used in Versailles or the Petit Trianon. The old quarter of Sarrancolin has a particular charm and stretches around the rue Nègre and the rue Royale. The viewpoints of the Pla de la Peyre and the crête des Coqs offer a superb panorama as far as the Lannemezan plateau: don't hesitate to take the time to discover it.
