The commune is listed in 1387 in the pouillé of Comminges, to which it was attached. It was then known by its Latin name of Sancto Laurencio. The church of Saint-Laurent houses a semi-relief altarpiece depicting the crucifixion of Christ. It is flanked by Saint-Laurent de Rome and Saint-Sixte II. Saint-Laurent-de-Neste marks the entrance to the Hautes-Pyrénées, on the road to Montréjeau from Toulouse. It is reached via the Nestes region, where the plain disappears to give way to deep valleys, offering magnificent views all the way to the Nordic area of Nistos, where nature-lovers will be delighted.
