That's it, the first snows have fallen on the peaks of the Pyrenees. Snow sports and nature lovers have already begun to enjoy the saint-Lary-Soulan ski area. Saint-Lary is a pleasant resort that combines extension with sustainable development. In Saint-Lary, we breathe! Zoom on a spot of choice to take your spatulas for a walk at the gates of the Pyrenean Parks that opened its doors december 6, 2019 for a new season that promises to be exceptional once again.

The village of Saint-Lary-Soulan, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, is situated in the Aure valley which runs along the river Neste d'Aure to Spain. A stage on the Way of Saint James, Saint-Lary-Soulan is a merger of the communes of Saint-Lary and Soulan. The union, which took place in 1963, made it possible to extend the ski resort and to access it by road. The high mountain village is a spa resort, at the gates of the Pyrenees Park. There is a friendly atmosphere in the streets, shops, bars, restaurants, discotheques... and in the ski areas. Wide and unspoilt, the Aure valley benefits from a privileged climate, largely sunny and protected from the disturbances of the west. On the economic side, Saint-Lary underwent rapid post-war development with the construction of large high-altitude hydroelectric dams and the establishment of the ski resort in 1957

The resort first developed in the Pla d'Adet sector, which alone accounts for almost a third of the resort's accommodation. The "Pla" is directly linked to the heart of the village by the ski lifts (cable car and gondola). And at the Pla d'Adet, the family is king with the Snow Garden, the toboggan runs and the Kidpark play area for beginners, and pedestrian walk areas... It should be said that the resort is labelled Famille Plus Montagne

For experienced skiers, there is a free shuttle service to Espiaube (1,900 metres). Don't miss the famous "Mirabelle", a long track with 700 metres of vertical drop and fun! At an altitude of 2,400 m, there is the lively snowpark, the mogul stadium but also, for walkers and nature lovers, snowshoe walks near the Lac de l'Oule accessible by the lake chairlift. With the construction of the access road and the merger with Soulan, a second footpath was created near the barn village of Espiaube. It is the closest point to the village if you go up by car and certainly the most central to discover the whole estate. This is the meeting place for experienced skiers.

In short, this ski area is one of the largest in the Pyrenees, stretching over different slopes, with different configurations: sometimes in the high mountains, sometimes in the forest ... A richness of landscape and exposure which has the advantage of guaranteeing to be able to ski in almost all weather conditions. Traditions and novelties cohabit in this pastoral valley, where paragliders fly over the village of Patou with delight. In fact, it is this Pyrenean dog, once responsible for watching over the safety of the herd, that has become the endearing emblem of Saint-Lary.

Enjoy the ski area... on foot!

Of course, with such an exceptional domain as Saint-Lary, skiing and snowboarding are the rhythm of the winter for seasonal and holidaymakers alike. But if you are resistant to this sport, you can easily reach the site in shoes thanks to the cable car that connects it from the village! An alternative that seduces many holidaymakers, ideal for admiring the magical landscapes of this fabulous place. A perfect solution to meet up with friends and family who love to go snowboarding at lunchtime. The route is simple, by cable car or gondola you reach Espiaube and you have at your disposal six lifts to reach the domain. They ensure you unforgettable panoramas.
