Its geographical location probably earned it its name, meaning "bad neighbor"! This formidable fortress formed the border between the ancient Narbonnaise and the old Aquitaine. In 920, the town became the capital of Fezensaguet. In the 13th century, the town grew, adding a market hall, ramparts, arcades on the main square and a fortified castle. It took on the appearance of a bastide, even if it wasn't one. Today, Mauvezin is a beautiful village with a luminous central square, a 13th-century hexagonal bell tower and medieval alleyways that invite you to stroll.
