The origins of Lavardac are lost in the mists of time. The city, located at the edge of the Landes forest, at the confluence of the Gélise and Baïse rivers, is at equal distance from Toulouse and Bordeaux. From the 15th to the 18th century, it was a warehouse and transit center, a hub between the Bordeaux, Armagnac and Périgord regions: all the trade in barges passed through the Baïse. The communication axes have always been the strong point of the city. Numerous vestiges scattered in the countryside attest to the existence of a Gallo-Roman city. It is worth discovering the park of the town hall with its legendary trees, its shaded alleys and its bandstand.
