This small village is crossed by the Neste river which offers nice opportunities for fishing or picnics in a rural setting. In the Middle Ages, the castle of La Barthe-de-Neste was the seat of the county of Aure. A remnant of this flamboyant past, part of the imposing keep of the castle razed to the ground by order of Henri IV, remains with a small bailey and overturned walls. If a thermal establishment was in activity in the XIXth century, there remains only a fountain and its wash-house, called the fountain to the Dogs. Its dermatological virtues were known by dog owners who did not hesitate to bathe their dogs in it to cure them of mange.
