This commune existed in Gallo-Roman times, with numerous villas and even thermal baths. In 1289, Edward I of England wanted to build a bastide here, but unfortunately it was never built. In the hamlet of Lamarque, in the vicinity, a milestone was found which marked out the towpath on the left bank of the Garonne at that time. These milestones bear a number. It is thought that they are some kind of mile markers. The one in Lamarque has the number 69. The situation of the number 0 ? An unresolved mystery The proximity of the city with the Garonne allows beautiful walks to discover fauna and flora of wetlands.
