In the valley of the Val d'Azun, like a real hanging garden, it is the last village and it is certainly one of the prettiest of the department. Born from the logical marriage between the communes of Arrens and Marsous, which were separated by only one and a half kilometers, this mountain place culminates at 875 meters of altitude. In its heart, you will find a green and flowery tranquility, you are at the doors of the Pyrenees National Park. Rocked by the murmur of the Gave d'Arrens, the village is crossed by a transparent and fiery water that has created postcard bridges full of charm. The typical Bigourdanes houses form a preserved urbanism and you will not find any building of more than three floors. On some facades, you can still clearly see the ovens where bread was baked in the past and lovers of beautiful stones will be delighted. An assertive architecture, to be admired in particular on the two churches which date from 1200 and 1750. If they reveal real treasures, they do not overshadow the incredible golden chapel which dominates the village on its rocky peak. It owes its nickname to its gilded wall decorations and has an impressive blue starry ceiling. A marvel with a rough schist floor, it seems to be set on solid granite and is of exceptional beauty. If you wish to stroll through these streets, don't worry, the traffic is easy, summer and winter, the roads being perfectly cleared of snow. A stop in this typical village with a mild climate is a must, as it leads to the Soulor and Aubisque passes, the mythical summits of the Tour de France.
