This is the "green suburb" of the capital of Magnoac! This commune, adjoining Castenau-Magnoac and its lake, is well known to naturists, even if it has only 65 inhabitants. It has long hosted a naturist campsite, unique in its kind in rural areas. The village of Espénan is composed of a pretty preserved village with very beautiful buildings. In 2016, residents launched a new historical festival, the Espénan festival, with mass, a 17th century show, a Gascon ballad and cavalcade, a potted chicken feast on the battlefield and historical sketches. This one takes place on a Sunday in mid-August and is a tribute to the Count of Espénan. Count Roger de Bossost, known as Count of Espénan, was a brilliant lieutenant general in the armies of King Louis XIII. The Association d'Espénan and Maurice Féraut, a retired history teacher and current owner of the former lands of this illustrious character, are at the origin of this festival which takes us back to the 17th century, in an enchanting setting. In addition to its campsite, Ariès-Espénan offers communal cottages, two of which are in its old renovated school with a playground as an outdoor space.
