Muret is the birthplace of Clément Ader, a pioneer of aviation. Even if the current heritage is not as impressive as elsewhere, it nevertheless testifies to a rich past and a stroll or a coffee break is always pleasant. The medieval prosperity of the city lasted until the 17th century, when the capitouls of Toulouse, jealous of its power, obtained from Louis XIII the demolition of the castle. At the end of the 16th century, after the wars of religion, Muret still had seven ports, five hospitals, two mills and five religious establishments... Today, it enjoys its proximity to Toulouse.
