In the 12th century, the lands of Solomiac were the property of the abbey of Gimont. In 1322, an act of parage was signed by Bernardus de Solemniaco. It marks the birth of one of the last bastides of the region. It was to be called Francheville, but its founder preferred to give it his name. Solemniaco became Solomiac with the evolution of the language. Today, it boasts a rich heritage: church, market hall, pigeon houses, castle, fountain, wash house, and the "public weights" building where goods were weighed. Solomiac is the regional capital of veal, with fairs and competitions at the end of the winter.
