This lovely Gers village, with its ochre and sienna tones, was once defended by a fortress, gates and walls. In 1569, Montgomery mistreated the church and delivered the monastery to the flames. At the end of the 17thcentury , the cloister was rebuilt and the altarpiece was added to the high altar of the church dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Its single-bay nave is attributed to the English. Rebuilt and restored many times, the main vault draws attention for its boldness and elevation. Saint-Mont's reputation has grown around the Plaimont winery, which is located on the site and has an extraordinary dynamic.
