The bastide of Saint-Clar was founded in 1274 by an act of parage between the King of England and the Bishop of Lectoure. Walking through the narrow streets with half-timbered houses, you will come across two squares with angle irons and end up on the main square where a remarkable 13th century market hall stands. The old church from the same period with its three-lobed Romanesque bell tower is no longer used as a place of worship. It has been replaced by a more recent church overlooking a large square. Saint-Clar is also the capital of the white garlic of Lomagne which it celebrates on its market every Thursday morning and at the beginning of August with a big popular festival.
