The village is located near the Grand lake, and has a castle of fairy tales, built from 1303 by Pierre d'Orbessan, Seigneur de Saint-Blancard. It was rebuilt after the fire of 1888. Here was born Marshal Charles of Biron, decapitated for having betrayed Henri IV. His father Armand de Gontaud-Biron, faithful officer of the same King Henri said by showing his sword: " This is my real nobility. " Convictions were sliced if not sharp at that time. The Terraced church (th century) has a painted and golden bois. The "waltdisnesque" aspect of the whole really deserves a look.
