On the border with the Haute-Garonne, this village of 250 inhabitants grew up around a feudal mound which rose in the north of the territory and whose ditches were filled in 1840. The church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption was rebuilt in 1841 on the remains of a medieval church built at the foot of this mound. Its octagonal tower-belfry decorated with a gallery that has been updated since its spire brings a touch of originality to a region where almost all churches have a bell-tower-wall. Also noteworthy, the walls combine brick and limestone that are supposed to be stones recovered from the old castle. Another peculiarity of Montpezat, the road that passes under a magnificent red brick hall rebuilt in 1879. See also near Montpezat, the windmill of 1817 and the miller's house in Gensac. The village's centre for archaeological studies and research, CERAMES, has just opened a beautiful museum to display the many objects dating from prehistory to the Middle Ages discovered in the Savès area.
