Its geographical location probably gave it its name, which means "bad neighbour". This formidable fortress was the border between the ancient Narbonnaise and the old Aquitaine. In 920, the city became the capital of Fezensaguet. In the 13th century, it grew, acquired a market hall and ramparts, and became more imposing with a fortified castle which has now disappeared. It modernized itself by taking on the appearance of a bastide which it is not, being much older. Today, Mauvezin invites you to stroll around with its bright central square, its arcades, its 13th century hexagonal bell tower and its medieval streets.
