Bordering the Landes department to the west, the commune of Le Houga closes the gap between the communes of Bas-Armagnac. A little further south, we reach the terroirs of Saint-Mont and Madiran. The commune is very old since it was founded around 1060. Its name comes from the Gascon word " heuguèra" and from the Languedoc word " falguièra" which means "bunch of ferns". Therefore, the inhabitants of Le Houga are called Folgariens. The village was fortified and one can still clearly see the sentry walk in its old part. Several hamlets were added to it during its history, including Saint-Aubin and its charming church.
