The place was invested since the Neolithic. Its name testifies to the age of the village. It was indeed occupied by the Gallo-Romans who used lime abundantly thanks to the limestone present in the ground. The latter was prized because it provided a very precious raw material for construction. Thus, the term calx gave "lime" and Caussens! The village developed later around its 11th century castle, before being razed in the 14th century and rebuilt. Today, only a few vestiges of this castle and the surrounding wall remain. Caussens is also home to the famous Mons castle and its domain
