Among the countless castles of the Gers, that of Cassaigne naturally gave its name to the village of 230 inhabitants which surrounds it. This beautiful building, today property of the wine cooperative of Plaimont, was for a long time used as a vacation place for the bishops of Condom. The present Renaissance building replaced an old medieval Gascon castle. Among other treasures, do not miss the arms room, converted into a wine storehouse. Blaise de Monluc himself slept there, the same man who served in the armies of so many kings of France, and passed on to posterity his military erudition and his political testament in his Commentaries.
