This pretty city rises at the confluence of the Gélise and the Baïse, gateway to the Landes de Gascogne forest. Its most famous monument is the mill of the towers which was built in the 14th century. Together with the Romanesque bridge from the 12th century, they form a very beautiful ensemble. The fortified mill was particularly loved by the young Henri de Navarre who signed his mail for a long time with the following formula "le meunier de Barbaste" and this, until he became king of France! A must-see during your stay in Albret. Barbaste is also a resort that attracts many green tourism enthusiasts, its population doubles in summer!
