Situated at the foot of the Lot valley(olt in Occitan), this fortified medieval village is listed as one of France's Most Beautiful Villages. Its most remarkable feature is its quasi-circular shape. There are three fortified entrance gates: Porte de la Barrieyre, Porte du Théron and Porte Neuve, which gives access to the village center. As you wind your way through the narrow streets, you'll come across the 12th-century manor house of the Sires de Calmont and the 13th-century Château de Castelnau, now the town hall. A stone's throw away, you'll find the church with its flamed bell tower, built in 1552 in the Gothic style. This style of village bell tower is quite rare in France.
