A village of red sandstone, Waxes passed from the hands of the monks of Conques to those of the chapter in Rodez. With a few interesting houses, the th century castle, reworked in the th century, has a certain look with its square tower. The church of the same time houses a golden virgin of the th century. The rest of a Gallo-Roman fanum lies at the peak of Kaymard (707 m), 4 km northwest. About 1573 priests were massacred in Waxes in by the Viscount de Gourdon who commanded the seat of the Protestants.
