Peyrusse-le-Roc dominates the valley thanks to its two towers, and is classified as one of the "remarkable sites of France and Europe". Petrucia enjoyed an economic boom in Roman times thanks to the exploitation of silver, lead and antimony mines. Forgotten for centuries, the mines were rehabilitated by the Abbey of Figeac and the Count of Toulouse. The village also played a military role in the Middle Ages, serving as a fortress for the Dukes of Aquitaine and the Counts of Toulouse. There are many remains to discover: the remains of the ramparts and the remaining gates, a beautiful 15th-century cross, the King's castle and his tomb...
